Essays on Art and Archaeology by Charles Thomas Newton Macmillan and Co 1880

This is an ex Haverford College Library edition with their bookplate inside front cover, small circular stamp to title page, stamp to rear endpaper and ISBN cataloguing bar code.  There are various pencil referencing to outer pages and on the spine, there is a library number.  The brown cloth covers are rubbed and exposed to corners and head and tail of spine with small loss to head. There is an old paper piece attached to the rear cover.  Foxing to outer pages and some later pages of the book, including the four fold out appendices of Greek inscriptions.  The pages are uncut and have dark edges.  Published in 1880 by Macmillan and Co, this reference book was written by Charles Thomas Newton, Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum, Corresponding Member of the French Institute and Hon Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford.
