The Chronicles of Crime or The New Newgate Calendar Vol I and II by Camden Pelham Published by T Miles & Co 1887

Brown cloth covers with gilt and black decoration to front and spine.  The covers have rubs and corners exposed, with tears mainly around the spine area. Internally the books have cracked hinges but with good binding.  There is some pencil annotation.  There is age spotting to some of the pages, illustrations and the tissue guarding and age toning generally. There is a smell of tobacco. The books are written by Camden Pelham, Barrister at Law of the Inner Temple with over 100  illustrations from original drawings by Phiz. Published by T Miles & Co in 1887.  I have chosen a few photographs of the two book so please do get in touch if you wish to see more.
