Our new online site will initially be selling rare and more valuable books that deserve a wider audience. We are aiming to showcase a wide range of books to encourage new customers to the site. With around 10,000 books at the Charity Bookstall and only opening one day a month we want to give our books the greatest opportunity to sell when we are not open. It also means that people that are working, on holiday or don’t live close by, get the chance to see what we have to offer.
A question we are often asked is “do you have a catalogue?”. With a large amount of stock and reasonably fast turnover we can’t catalogue everything but this is a start. As we build experience with online selling with this Shopify-based website, we hope that the range of books online will grow. Initially we are using our valuable volunteer time to focus on the higher value and rarer items.
One of the benefits of the regular donations we receive is that we can assemble collections of books, by author or publisher, so you will see sets or bundles of books on offer too. It may take us several months or years to collect the full set, but we know that is something customers appreciate. One customer at our physical Charity Bookstall recently cleared us out of all of our Enid Blyton stock -some from our Children’s section and some from our Collectors Corner.
